4th Of July in Waco Texas – On the Brazos

Got plans for the 4th of July? Well, if you don’t… You may want to head downtown for the big 4th on the Brazos Celebration.

The annual event on the Brazos in Waco draws a crowd of about 15,000 people.

It’s a big bash every year in downtown Waco, complete with fireworks, live music, vendors, stuff for the kids, etc…

Here’s the lowdown on what’s going on (from Brazos Nights website):

Overview:

  • The big party will take place at Indian Spring in downtown Waco
  • Admission is free
  • It starts at 6 p.m. and ends about 10:30
  • Along with all the live music, they’ll have sponsor booths, concessions, kids arts and games, scenic views

If you don’t plan on attending the party downtown and you’re only interested in the fireworks, if you park on the East side of I-35 you’ll still be able to see the fireworks. Also, Star 92.9 is going to broadcast the music played by the Waco Community Band during the fireworks show too.

Schedule:
 
Main Stage
  • 6 p.m. – Sloppy Joe
  • 7 p.m. – T-Birds and the Breaks
  • 8:20 p.m. – The Fab 5
  • 9:30 p.m. – Patriotic ceremony with the Mayor and winner of Waco’s Idol contest
  • 9:45 p.m. – Waco Community Band (patriotic favorites)
Amphitheater Stage
  • 6 p.m. – 10: 30 p.m. – Star 92.9 and 1660 ESPN music and live remote
H-E-B Extravaganza
  • 10 p.m. – Zambelli Fireworks Internationale
Fireworks Show
  •  The H-E-B Fireworks Show will start at 10 p.m. and will be visible throughout downtown
  • Zambelli Fireworks Internationale will produce the show
  • The fireworks will be shot from a location north of the Suspension Bridge in Waco. Suggested viewing areas include the park areas along both sides of the Brazos River, Franklin Street Bridge, Washington Street Bridge, and downtown parking lots
Security, EMS, Info Booth
  • A security command post will be next to the stage, inside of the convention center
  • Officers from Waco PD, McLennan County Sheriff’s Office, Waco Park Rangers will work the event
  • Lost children should be taken to the security command post
  • EMS will also be headquarted at the corner of University Park and Franklin
Food Court
  • Food vendors will be located at the event. Food includes: BBQ, Corn Dogs, Turkey Legs, Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, etc…
  • Dr. Pepper will be located at the celebration as well
  • Beer and wine will be available

There will be a lot of stuff for the kiddos too! Free arts and crafts, inflatable games, etc…

Here’s a list of items prohibited (and permitted) at the 4th of July Brazos Celebration:

  • Yes, you’ll be able to bring your coolers, chairs, cameras, blankets, and storage bags
  • No, you can’t bring: pets, pop-up tents, large umbrellas, glass bottles, and grills

Also, no fireworks are allowed.
