If you haven’t had a chance to read my post from a few days ago, I decided to post inspirational type stories between now and Christmas.
The story below, was just emailed to me a couple of days ago by someone who read one of the inspirational stories that I had posted. If you have a favorite story, please share it! If you email to me, I’ll be glad to read it over and possibly put on my blog.
By the way… Merry Christmas!
The Little Girl
This was sent to me recently, so I haven’t verified it at all, but the message is good.
There was a young couple who had a daughter. They never went to church, read the Bible, or told their daughter about the Lord.
Times were tough for the young couple. The husband recently lost his job at the plant and was unable to find work. They had no family they could ask for help.
Since they had no savings, the young parent’s were forced to sell one of their cars to pay rent, buy food, and pay utilities, but that money was quickly gone. Out of desperation, the husband took a night job at a local convenience store.
The husband had worked about a month at the convenience store. It was still tough though, trying to buy food and pay rent on the low pay, but the hours worked out so he could look for a job during the day.
It was a Friday night and he was about to get off work. The man’s wife had to come pick him up in the only car they had. The young mom left her daughter in the car while she went inside to get a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk.
It was a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. A thug came in the convenience store branding a shotgun and demanding money. The young husband handed everything in the register to the robber… right before the thief shot and killed him. Suprised by the young man’s wife in the back of the store, he shot her and she died instantly.
Their young daughter was left alive in the car. Maybe the thief/killer didn’t see her?
A Christian couple from a local church in town read the story in the paper, the story about the now orphaned little girl and the upcoming funeral. They decided that although her parents didn’t attend their church and they didn’t know the young couple at all, they wanted to attend the funeral. They felt that they just needed to be there.
At the funeral, not too many people were there. The young married couple had no family and only very few friends.
Not too long after the funeral, the Christian couple decided they needed to adopt that little girl they read about in the paper. By this time they knew that her young parent’s had never read her the Bible, took her to church, or taught her about the Lord.
The day the little girl arrived at her new home, the Christian couple pointed to a picture of Jesus that was hanging on the wall.
They asked the little girl, “Do you know who that is”? The little girl said “Yes, that was the man that was holding me the night my mommy and daddy died”.
